Piracy notice
We get it. Files are easy to share. Here's where we stand.
The short version
Our insert kit files are for your personal use. Modify them however you like for your own build, but please don't share them, re-upload them or resell them, and please don't sell prints made from them.
What you're paying for
You're not really paying for a file. You're paying for the work that goes into it. Every insert kit is fitted to your build: we take your photos and requests, adjust the parametric model to your hardware, and refine it to fit your build as photographed. The price covers that custom work, not the download.
How our files are marked
Every insert kit is uniquely marked to the order it came from. These measures include:
- A unique geometric identifier built into the parts, which sticks around through remeshes, rebuilds and printed reproductions.
- Order-linked identifiers in the files.
- A per-order file fingerprint, recorded with every purchase.
- Order-specific parametric signatures: dimensional variations too small to affect fit.
There are a few more we're keeping to ourselves.
What we act on
Posting our files online anywhere, free or paid, or reproducing and selling our models for profit. That includes using our geometry to build a replica. Want to make your own version? Go for it, just make it truly yours, not a copy of ours. Need our measurements to get started? Request them here.
What 'acting on it' means
Takedown requests. We're not interested in going after anyone over plastic. We'd just rather our files didn't end up online, especially for profit.
A note from us
This whole project is just for fun. It's a way for us to share the models we've made, not a business built to make a profit. Given the time and resources that went into it, it will most likely never pay for itself.
This site and what it offers will only be around for a limited time. If you do plan to share our files, we'd appreciate it if you held off for a while.
